The Law
Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002
Regulation 4 ‘The Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non Domestic Premises
If you are responsible for any Non-Domestic property, it is now your legal duty to have put into practice reasonable steps to:

- Ascertain if there are any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) on the premises.
- Determine the type and condition of any such materials.
- Presume materials contain Asbestos unless there is strong evidence to suggest otherwise.
- Assess the risk of disturbance / exposure of any ACM’s or presumed ACM’s.
- Prepare and implement a written plan on how the risks are to be managed.
- Monitor, review, and update the plan periodically.

The most efficient and safe method to comply with the new regulations is to have a survey undertaken by a qualified asbestos surveyor. This should be taken as your first steps to managing asbestos within the property and form a basis of your management plan.

Already had a survey?

The duty means you must actively manage any asbestos containing materials in your building. We offer annual re-inspections to ensure that risk assessments are still representative.

We do not intend our service to end with the issuing of a report, the management of all aspects of health and safety is an ongoing process.

We are a small company which helps us to provide a very personal exemplary service. We have built up long term relationships and friendships with many clients providing annual re-inspections of health and safety issues. It is very satisfying to see the rewards of a proactive rather than reactive management system.
